Over the last decade, intense scrutiny has been placed on the Oxford Street precinct and surrounds.
We are pleased with the decision of the Delegate of the Secretary of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport (the Department) to grant an exemption from a precinct related special licence condition to Men’s Gallery. Combined with the approval of an Extended Trading Authorisation (ETA) application by the NSW Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority (the Authority), Men’s Gallery’s is now permitted to trade until 4.00am the following day.
Over the last decade, intense scrutiny has been placed on the Oxford Street precinct and surrounds regarding late night alcohol-related harm. As a result, there was a very high likelihood that the application would attract highly restrictive conditions or an outright refusal, and it required careful enunciation of harm minimisation and potential benefits to be put forward to the Department and the Authority. The case provided by our Licensing Team illustrated effectiveness of the proposed measures and justified the approval, meaning the Men’s Gallery can fully utilise their highly sought after late-night trading capabilities in a densely patronised area of Sydney.
